1. Why the name DJ Spontaneous?
The name DJ Spontaneous was derived from his short lived rapping career. His rap style was spontaneous and different. His first DJ name was actually DJ Figures. He then took his spontaneous rap style and renamed himself DJ Spontaneous.
2. What inspired you to become a DJ?
He wanted to hear more hip-hop. He used to listen to 88.9FM which was the only station that played strictly hip-hop. Since no other station played the hip-hop he wanted to hear he then invested in turntables. Mixing for him was a hobby turned career.
3. What brought you to Atlanta?
Growth & expansion mainly. After mixing for Baltimore radio stations, clubs, and private events his success grew substantially. In Baltimore he had a lost of upward movement in the industry. Since he originally wanted to come to Atlanta for school it was long overdue. Moving to Atlanta was a great move for him. Atlanta gave him the chance to work with inspiring andsuccessful black people in his field.
4. What do you bring to an event that other DJ’s lack?
He brings skill, true love and passion for the art of mixing to every event! DJ Spontaneous also prides himself in giving great customer service. He likes to serve his audience and have them leave the event feeling great. He doesn’t take the job lightly and understands that DJ’s set the mood of an event.
5. What do you suggest to aspiring DJ’s/Mix artist?
Practice, understand your purpose, let go of the Ego, and understand its about the people you are serving not you.
6. Do you have a favorite genre of music you like to play?
- Hip-Hop/Rap
- R&B
- 90s music
- Old Baltimore club music
- Reggae
7. What types of events do you cover?
Weddings, corporate events, private events, and special events at night clubs.
8. Do you consider yourself a fashionable person/ Do you have “Swag” ?
No, he just likes to look nice. He doesn’t put a lot of time into getting dressed. He keeps it pretty basic by wearing jeans & a polo or suiting. He does believe that DJ’s are trendsetters (overall).
9. Can you tell me about your radio show?
The radio show for him is a great marketing tool. You can catch him on Majic 107.5 FM. His position on this old school 30 &over station started back in April. Slow Jam Mix ATL is his segment which blends old & new R&B that is desirable to the ears. He plans to market this Slow Jam Mix to other stations. The Slow Jam mix offers more songs in a shorter period of time which keeps the listeners tuned in.
10. What events should we look for coming from Spontaneous Entertainment?
You will find Spontaneous Ent. everywhere on film, rap parties, weddings, clothing branding, and liquor branding in the near future.
